Frequently Asked Questions
New Moon Life Design
- 01Yes, New Moon Life Design is beginner friendly and for the experienced. Part One teaches the basics of lunar cycles, astrology, and tarot in a simple way so you can follow along even if you’re completely new to it. The book guides you step by step through the practice. If you already know astrology, tarot, or moon work, the YesSpiral Method gives you a clear structure for bringing everything together into one connected practice you can return to every moonth.
- 02
- 03A tarot deck and a journal. New Moon Spiral: A Lunar Planner & Guided Journal is the companion journal created for this practice. It gives you space to track your intentions, tarot spreads, goals, reflections, and moon cycles moonth by moonth. You can also use your own journal or even write notes directly in the book. If you want to explore the astrology side more deeply, having your birth chart details — especially your birth date, birth time, and birth location — is very helpful.
- 04A moonth is one full lunar cycle. It begins with the New Moon and moves through all the moon phases until the next New Moon, which takes about 29.5 days to complete. A calendar month is 28–31 days on a calendar. A moonth follows the phases of The Moon, which you can see in the sky 🌚🌓🌝🌗🌚 The word reminds us that this practice follows the Moon’s rhythm and cosmic timing.
- 05The astrological year begins in Aries, but the Spiral Year begins in Capricorn. Capricorn is the sign of goals, planning, commitment, and long-term vision. Its energy is already present around January 1, when many people are thinking about the year ahead. That makes Capricorn a natural place to begin. Before we rush into action, we pause, get clear, and decide what we are building. The Spiral Year begins with intention before momentum.
- 06Because it changes every year. Each zodiac sign has 30°. The New Moon does not always happen at the same degree of the sign. That means the Waxing Moon, Full Moon, and Waning Moon can fall in different signs each year. For example, Libra is Aries’ opposite sign (Full Moon sign) so it is the sign we usually associate with an Aries Full Moon. But in 2026, the Aries New Moon happened at 28° Aries. Because it was so late in Aries, the Full Moon for that moonth happened in Scorpio instead of Libra. That is why Part Two works like a reference guide. The book gives you the meanings. A lunar calendar or moon app tells you where The Moon is in the sky right now. You can can also go to https://www.yesspiral.com/2026-moonths
- 07Return to that chapter. Sometimes two New Moons happen in the same zodiac sign back to back. This is sometimes called a Black Moon. When this happens, the first New Moon usually falls at the beginning of the sign, and the second New Moon falls near the end of the sign. Each zodiac sign has 30°, so this gives you two passes through the same sign’s lessons. The sign’s themes, focus areas, and tarot cards are the same, but you are not the same. Your work during the first moonth has already changed you. Use the second New Moon as a chance to look again. Ask yourself: What did I start last time? What still needs my attention?
- 08Part Two is a reference map. You can read it straight through, or you can jump around based on the Moon’s phases. Each chapter focuses on one zodiac sign. As you move through a moonth, you may read from different chapters. For example, during an Aries New Moon moonth, you may read: New Moon: Aries chapter Waxing Moon / First Quarter: Cancer chapter Full Moon: Libra chapter Waning Moon / Third Quarter: Capricorn chapter The Moon moves through all 12 zodiac signs during a moonth. To keep the practice simple, New Moon Life Design focuses on the New Moon, First Quarter Waxing Moon, Full Moon, and Third Quarter Waning Moon. Because The Moon is always moving, the signs of these moon phases can change each year depending on the degree of the New Moon. Follow the actual sky. The New Moon Life Design helps you understand what it means.
- 09You can start at any New Moon. You do not have to wait for Capricorn season or the beginning of the calendar year. The spiral does not have one fixed starting point. There is no time like the present. Begin with the New Moon happening now. Read that zodiac sign’s chapter, set your intention, and follow the cycle from there. Wherever you begin is the right place to begin.
- 10Moon Club is the community where New Moon Life Design comes alive in real time. Each cycle includes journaling prompts, tarot spreads, discussions, and live sessions to help you work with the Moon as it moves through its phases. Moon Club follows the five phases of the practice: BEGIN — New Moon BUILD— Waxing Moon / First Quarter Moon CELEBRATE— Full Moon RELEASE— Waning Moon / Third Quarter Moon RESET— Dark Moon It gives you support, structure, and a place to keep showing up for your intentions.
- 11You can join Moon Club without the book, but New Moon Life Design will make the experience much richer. The book gives you the full YesSpiral Method, along with the chapters, prompts, and practices we use in Moon Club. Moon Club is where we practice the method together in real time, moonth by moonth. The book helps you understand the deeper meaning behind each phase, sign, tarot spread, and reflection.
