The second new moon Aries is on Thursday, April 20th at 12:12 am ET. Four minutes after that we will have a total solar eclipse at 12:16 am ET. Then at 12:30 am ET the moon transits into Taurus.
What is a New Moon?
The Sun and Moon are together again in the sign of Aries. When the sun and moon are together in a sign (conjunct) it means the moon is starting a new cycle and this second new moon in Aries and Solar Eclipse is happens on April 20th 2023 at 12:12 am ET.
Each NEW MOON offers an opportunity for us to plant seeds of intentions that we can nurture and grow as moon waxes (grows) and prune as the moon wanes (gets smaller).
A new moon cycle happens every month when the moon meets up with the sun in the sky. I call this a "moonth"
When the moon is in Aries there is a collective need to be independent and develop our authenticity by taking courageous action towards our goals and intentions. We feel an urgency to focus, initiate, and set boundaries.
What is Aries about?
Aries is a fire sign which corresponds to creativity, identity, actions, and personal will. Aries embodies fire energy in the form of a shooting star. Have you ever seen a shooting star? The first time I saw one I felt inspired and energized. I was in awe. Tapping into Aries energy is like that. It brings out our inner leader to assertively take responsibility for our lives and actively design the life we want.
Why are we having a second Aries New Moon?
The first new moon in Aries happened at 0Āŗ while this second new moon in Aries is happening at 29Āŗ. The new moon is in the same sign but the energy is completely different. Last moonth we experienced the initiating energy and this moonth we will experience the closing out energy.
What are the Aries Sabian Symbols?
The Sabian Symbols are a set of 360 phrases that correspond to the wheel of the zodiac. Each one of these symbols holds a story and unique energy field of their own, to further help to understand your path in life.
Aries 0Āŗ - A woman rises out of water, a seal rises and embraces her
This degree is the beginning of the zodiac where the old gets left behind and a new understanding and awareness comes to light. This is the beginning of a whole new impulse, creative and responsive.
Aries 29Āŗ - A duck pond and its brood
This Symbol speaks of families, being with and caring for youngsters, and caring for each other. Finding friends or family that enrich our life can lead to a sense of community, belonging and love.

What is a Solar Eclipse?
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the earth and the sun, casting a shadow on the earth's surface. During a solar eclipse, the moon appears to cover the sun, blocking its light and creating a spectacular celestial display.
There are different types of solar eclipses, including total solar eclipses, partial solar eclipses, and annular solar eclipses.
In a total solar eclipse, (this is what we are experiencing this cycle) the moon completely covers the sun, while in a partial solar eclipse, only a part of the sun is covered. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is at its furthest distance from the Earth, making it appear smaller than the Sun and creating a "ring of fire" effect around the edges of the Sun.
Chani Nicholas says "eclipses happen in groups, usually of two, and they'll occur every six months. They have a way of defining the year in an activating type of way. They create openings and closings or beginnings and endings."
We'Moon 2023 says "April 19th total solar eclipse at 29Āŗ Aries obscures our view and our willpower flags. Use this down time to gain fresh notions of where to put your energy, and what's worth pursuing. The return of light offers promise.
May 5th penumbral lunar eclipse at 14Āŗ Scorpio opens up in revealing ways. Old emotional wounds may surface. Let the returning light bring closure, and embrace the healing of your heart anew. "
Six month later on October 14 we will have an annual solar eclipse at 21Āŗ of Libra and on October 28th a partial lunar eclipse at 5Āŗ Taurus.
The Tarot Lady Theresa Reed wrote an informative blog post about this solar eclipse along with mini tarot readings for each sign. Read it here.
