Spiral Moon Phase Ritual: Design Your Life with Lunar Cycles
The Moon is our cosmic reminder to focus on designing the life we want to live. By working with the phases and cycles of the Moon, we can improve our relationships, finances, health, creativity, and more.
Each new moon cycle intertwines with the next in a spiral of wisdom, helping us illuminate the unknown and shape our future intentionally.
The Spiral Moon Phase Ritual teaches you how to move with these natural rhythms, planting new seeds each month and growing your life in harmony with the cosmos.
Understanding the Moonth and the Moon Phase Ritual
A new moon cycle — or "moonth" — is approximately 29.5 days, the time it takes the Moon to orbit Earth. I call it a moonth because it mirrors a calendar month and, honestly, it's more fun to say.
As the Moon moves through the sky, it transits all 12 zodiac signs, spending about 2.5 days in each. Meanwhile, the Sun stays in each sign for about 30 days, setting the larger seasonal tone.
There are eight classic Moon phases, but in the Spiral Moon Phase Ritual, we focus on five key stages. These phases mirror the life cycle of a plant, helping us visualize how our intentions grow:
🌱 New Moon – Plant seeds of intention.
🌿 Waxing Moon – Nurture and grow your dreams.
🌸 Full Moon – Celebrate the blossom of your efforts.
🍂 Waning Moon – Weed and release what no longer serves.
🫘 Dark Moon – Receive the seeds of new wisdom.
Each phase invites reflection, action, and realignment, weaving your personal evolution into the greater cosmic dance.
🌱 What to do at the new moon?
The new moon is a powerful time to set intentions, make wishes, or goals.

The New Moon is 0 - 3 days of the Sun and Moon Conjunction
🌑 Moon & Sun are 0º apart
🌅 Moon Rises: Sunrise | Sets: Sunset
The new moon happens when the sun and moon are conjunct 0º apart in the sky. When the sun and moon align in the same zodiac sign, their energy focuses on one area. This alignment creates the perfect energetic window to set new intentions, make wishes, or clarify goals.
The New Moon is a portal. The Universe is listening — place your order during this powerful time.
✨ How to Set New Moon Intentions:
Free-write what you want — dreams both big and small.
Limit your intentions to around ten for clarity and focus.
Try phrasing similar intentions from different angles to refine the energy.
Over time, working with New Moons will touch on every major area of your life.
In the YesSpiral Moonthly Spread, Card 1 represents your New Moon intention — your intentional seed.
🌿 What to do at the waxing moon?
The waxing moon is the time to nurture your intentions by taking action.
Review your New Moon intentions, pick one to focus on, and transform it into a SMART goal — specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.

The Waxing First Quarter Moon is
7 - 10 days after the New Moon
🌓 Moon & Sun are 90º apart
🌅 Moon Rises: Noon | Sets: Midnight
The first quarter waxing moon happens when the sun and moon are 90º apart in the sky. This relationship creates a catalyst into action. This energetic tension moves us forward. Use this time to clarify what actions you'll take towards bringing your dreams to life and how you'll fit them into your schedule. Planning and dedication are key to turning dreams into reality.
Some intentions can manifest quickly — in just two weeks between the New Moon and Full Moon — while others unfold over months or even years. The important thing is to pick goals that inspire action and keep your momentum alive.
A the Waxing Moon energy builds. Choose your focus, commit, and watch your dream life grow.
In the YesSpiral Moonthly Spread, Card 2 reflects the focus and commitment of the waxing moon.

🌸 What to do at the full moon?
The full moon is a time to celebration, reflection, forgiveness and release.
At the full moon energy is at a peak - shining a light on both our blessings and burdens.

The Full Moon is 14 - 17 days after the New Moon
🌕 Moon & Sun are 180º apart
🌅 Moon Rises: Sunset | Sets: Sunrise
The full moon happens when the sun and moon are 180º apart in the sky. The sun is usually still in the sign where the new moon started (not always) and the moon is in the opposite sign. This opposition brings energy to a peak — shining light on both our blessings and our burdens.
At the Full Moon, we celebrate what has blossomed. We practice gratitude for the ways life is showing up — even if the growth looks different than expected.
This is also a powerful time to let go of regrets, disappointments, and any old energy weighing you down. Forgiveness is key — including forgiveness for yourself.
You can charge your crystals (and your spirit) under the Full Moon’s light, gather with friends for a Moon Circle, dance off extra energy, and — if the spirit moves you — howl your joy into the night. 🌸🐺
The Full Moon embraces it all. Celebrate your bloom. Forgive your stumbles.
In the YesSpiral Moonthly Spread, Card 3 reflects what is blooming and where gratitude, forgiveness, and celebration align.
🍂 What to do at the waning moon?
The Waning Moon is the true moment of transformation.
As the light of the Moon fades, realizations sprout like wild weeds — offering clarity about what truly serves us and what no longer does.

The Waning Third Quarter Moon is 21 - 24 Days after the New Moon
🌗 Moon & Sun are 90º apart
🌅 Moon Rises: Midnight | Sets: Noon
The third quarter waning moon happens when the sun and moon are 90º apart. The moon is now three quarters of the way in the cycle. The waning moon creates tension that now invites reflection instead of action.
At this point in the cycle, it's time to revisit your intention list. Check in with yourself:
🌱 What still lights you up? Circle the intentions that light you up. Cross out the ones that weigh you down.
🍂 What feels heavy or forced? Create a simple release ritual: write it down, burn it (safely), and say goodbye with gratitude.
Assess what needs nurturing — and what needs weeding out. Some intentions may no longer resonate, and that's not failure — it's growth. Dreams evolve as you do.
Unconscious resistance often surfaces at this phase. Tools like tarot, journaling, or honest conversation can help reveal hidden blocks.
If you find something that no longer fits your true path, release it with love and gratitude. Yes, every lesson deserves gratitude even if it's hard. Not every seed needs to grow — some were simply meant to show you what matters most.
The Waning Moon reveals what you’re ready to release — and who you're ready to become.
In the YesSpiral Moonthly Spread, Card 4 reflects what is ready for release, and the transformation that clearing creates.
🫘 What to do at the dark moon
The Dark Moon invites us inward.
As the final sliver of light fades, it's time for deep introspection, integration, and preparation for the next cycle.

The Dark Moon is is 25 - 28 days after the New Moon
🌒 Moon & Sun are 30º apart
🌅 Moon Rises: Sunrise | Sets: Sunset
The dark moon happens when the sun and moon are close together in the sky about 30º apart in the sky. The moon offers us a sliver of light, perfect for going within and communing with our intuition. The dark moon is an optimal time for introspection and integration of the actions we took or didn’t take. Use these two to three days to review how the moonth progressed.
During this phase, we review the moonth behind us:
🌑 How did your intentions develop?
🌑 What actions did you take — or resist?
🌑 What lessons emerged?
Reflection can happen through meditation, journaling, or a simple quiet moment with yourself.
This is also a time to release what no longer fits. Write down anything you are ready to banish — old fears, outdated goals, limiting beliefs — and burn it safely as an act of energetic cleansing.
Before the next seed is planted, the field must be cleared. Trust the process.
In the YesSpiral Moonthly Spread, Card 5 reflects this integration and prepares the seed of the next cycle. The spiral turns, and Card 5 becomes Card 1 — beginning again with renewed clarity.
